If photos initially look correct in the preview and then change to a display that is too light, too dark or incorrect after a short delay, this indicates that the RAW format of the photo cannot be correctly converted to a 1:1 preview or that the file format is not compatible with the RAW development module.
This error can occur if the automatic loading of the 1:1 preview is active in the single image preview or if the 1:1 preview was selected manually by clicking on the button.
To work around the error in the short term, you can deactivate the automatic generation of 1:1 previews in the program settings.
To do this, open the "Settings" in the Excire Foto menu and then the "Previews" section. There, switch off "Automatic reloading of 1:1 preview images in preview mode".
After deactivating the option, you must restart Excire Foto once to delete any incorrect 1:1 previews that have already been created automatically. Manually created 1:1 previews, on the other hand, are not automatically removed when Excire Foto is restarted. You can remove these by clearing the 1:1 preview cache (in the "Previews" tab in the settings).
This will display the existing preview, which has a lower resolution but enables a display similar to the camera settings.
Faulty 1:1 previews of RAW files are often related to the RAW converters we use for the conversion. If the thumbnails are displayed correctly, we recommend enabling the "Use embedded previews as 1:1 …" option in the "Previews" section of the settings. On many modern cameras, these embedded previews are often large enough and were also created by the camera's own RAW converter. They therefore look good and, in many cases, provide a good alternative.
To solve the problem in principle, you will unfortunately have to wait for an update of the RAW library in the program or in the operating system.
