These are the supported file formats for photos in Excire Foto 2027:

.3fr, .arw, .cr2, .cr3, .crw, .dcr, .dng, .erf, .heic, .heif, .hif, .iiq, .kdc, .mef, .mos, .mrw, .nef, .nrw, .orf, .pef, .ppm, .raf, .raw, .rw2, .rwl, .sr2, .srf, .srw, .x3f, .bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe, .jfif, .png, .tif, .tiff, .psd, .webp

Videos:

.3g2, .3gp, .avi, .m2v, .m4v, .mkv, .mov, .mp4, .mpg, .mpeg, .ogv, .webm, .wmv

Videos are added if the option "Add video files" is enabled in the "Add" tab of the preferences (default). Whether a video can be played depends on the installed codecs, see Additional information about displaying videos in Excire Foto (version 2025 and later).

On Windows, .heic, .heif and .hif files require the HEIF Image Extensions and the (paid) HEVC Video Extensions from the Microsoft Store.

If you do not want certain formats to be added to Excire Foto, e.g. the JPG files next to your RAW files, enter the extensions in the preferences in the "Add" tab under "Blacklist for file formats (by extension)", separated by commas, spaces or line breaks (e.g. jpg, png). These files are ignored when adding photos. Photos that have already been added remain in the database; the list only takes effect the next time photos are added. Use "Clear blacklist" to remove the exclusion again. PSD files and videos can also be excluded with the options "Add PSD files" and "Add video files" in the same tab. The blacklist is available starting with version 4.1 (Excire Foto 2025).

Older versions do not support all of these formats: .hif files are supported starting with Excire Foto 2027, .webp files and videos starting with Excire Foto 2025.
