DxO PhotoLab: Setting Up Sidecar Files Correctly
DxO PhotoLab stores editing data in sidecar files with the extension .dop. DxO appends the .dop extension to the full filename including the original file extension – for example:
IMG0815.NEF.DOP (Nikon RAW)IMG0815.CR2.DOP (Canon RAW)IMG0815.JPG.DOP (JPEG)
Excire Foto expects a simple extension such as .DOP for sidecar file detection – e.g. IMG0815.DOP. As a result, DxO sidecar files are not recognized by default.
Workaround
Open the preferences via the menu Excire Foto → Preferences (macOS) or Edit → Preferences (Windows) and navigate to the Sidecar files section. In the Whitelist for sidecar file formats, add all relevant combined extensions, e.g.:
.nef.dop.cr2.dop.crw.dop.arw.dop.raf.dop.heic.dop.hif.dop.jpg.dop.jpeg.dop.tif.dop.tiff.dop
Excire Foto will then correctly recognize and handle the associated sidecar files.
Note: Since DxO appends the full original file extension to the sidecar filename, a separate entry is required in the whitelist for each file format you use.
